The program
The second year on the Path of Sound & Silence is designed to go deeper into the connection with sound and the integration of sound practice in daily life. There is an emphasis on musical development and also the connection between sound and the body. You’ll receive plenty of tools to anchor this connection.

As the main theme of the first year is ‘transformation’, the main theme of the second year is ‘creation’. This points in the first place to the development of technical skills of sound creation. A big part of this year is dedicated to the cultivation of your natural voice and the musical application of it. You’ll learn how to sing in an embodied manner, bringing your natural healing voice to full expression.

Secondly the theme of ‘creation’ is pointing at an inner work as well. You’ll work with dreams, desires, intention and the manifestations of all those into daily life.
The structure of year 2 is identical to the one of year 1. The program and structure of this training is consciously designed to enable a smooth and steady integration. We aim to blend the best of two worlds. You’ll receive:
-
Online content, mainly for transferring information (teachings) and practices. This can be repeated as much as needed for optimal absorption and integration.
-
In-person retreats, to give space for communal practice and immerse into sacred place and community.

There are three in-person gatherings (two of which are retreats), but there is only one (5-day retreat) that is absolutely essential to join. Therefore, if you can make a journey to Belgium once a year, you’re able to join this training, no matter where you live in the world.

What people say...
"With gratitude, I look back on the sound healing training I followed with Surya. The program is clearly structured and follows a logical progression.
First, attention is given to working on ourselves — overcoming obstacles, developing virtues and skills. These are then placed in service of the greater good of others. Healing is approached in a holistic way: we work together with nature and with the whole human being, helping to restore harmony with the healing forces that are already present within each of us.
Because the lessons are given in small groups, there is plenty of space for an individual approach right from the start. This makes the threshold for working with others, or for expressing oneself creatively and openly, very low. The process unfolds in small steps, with great care for creating and maintaining a safe environment.
The greatest source of inspiration is Indian philosophy and the path of yoga as service. That’s why mantra practice is an essential part of the training. At the same time, there is also strong emphasis on shamanic work with sound, drum, voice, and rattle, as well as instruments like singing bowls. The techniques and methods taught integrate well with skills or practices students may already have from previous trainings — whether musical abilities, working with other instruments, or other holistic therapies.
Perhaps the most important pillar of the training is spirituality. Here there are no hollow words or abstract philosophical debates. Both the practice of healing and the work with sound are grounded in a deeply felt silence and serene peace. This emphasis, and the constant search for authentic presence, makes the program — though full and rich — deeply digestible and rewarding.
For anyone fascinated by sound and wishing to explore this medium in order to dive into the great questions of who we are, why we are here, and how we can help one another, this training will surely provide the tools and guidance you need."
