SOUND HEALING & MEDITATION

Path of Sound and Silence

International 3-Year Training

Why sound healing and meditation?

Since time immemorial people have been applying sound as a tool for connection, healing, meditation and devotional practice. In many spiritual traditions sound is a central tool that enables people to connect mind and matter to the spiritual mystery.

If directed well, sound is a portal to the divine; the conscious, loving source beyond the mind. Sound may also serve as a holistic medicine, naturally harmonizing the body, mind and emotions. It has the potential to liberate you from energetic blockages and psychic suffering and may unlock the door to a life of freedom, happiness and creativity.

Why this training?

In the first two years of this training there is a strong focus on inner work. This is done through individual and group work. At first the aim is to trigger healing and awakening and integrate the practice into daily life. Before supporting others through healing and meditation we believe it is essential to first learn to work with the techniques on your own. In the third year the main focus is on supporting others through guided sound meditations.

Effectively applying sound for healing and meditation is not to be learned in a single workshop or even within the timespan of a couple of months. If you’re interested in a true deep dive, a thorough study and experiential investigation of yourself and the nature of sound, this might be something for you.

This training is both online and in-person.

The first year includes three in-person gatherings (two of which are retreats), but there is only one (5-day retreat) that is absolutely essential to join. Therefore, if you can make a journey to Belgium once a year, you’re able to join this training, no matter where you live in the world.

You learn to use sound for healing, awakening and your own spiritual practice.
The first two years are mainly focussed on your own journey of healing and awakening. The third year enables you to become a facilitator for sound meditation. Every year can be attended separately. You can attend year 2 or 3 if you completed the previous year.

You’ll receive both ancient and modern teachings and practices.
The traditional teachings are approached with respect and integrity for its original sources. Scientific knowledge and modern practices are integrated for the sake of new and modern needs.

Some of the main subjects are:

Healing Voice | Overtones | Chakra Sounds | Five Elements | Mantra | Toning | Deep Listening | Healing Instruments | Singing Bowls | Shamanic sounds | Shadow Work | Voice Liberation | Much more!

For who?

- Holistic therapists, healers or practitioners

- Massage therapists

- Yoga teachers

- Musicians

- Sound Healers who wish to deepen their study and practice

- And most of all ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED AND READY TO LOOK WITHIN

Although the course can be an enrichment for work as sound healer, holistic therapist, yoga teacher, musicians etc., no previous experience is necessary.

This is an international training, accessable from anywhere in the world. Anyone who's able to travel once a year - or more - to Belgium can join.

Location

The retreats take place in the historical old monastery of Akasha Retreat Center in Belgium. Akasha is located in the idyllic natural area of Haspengouw, near the German and Dutch border. Only one hour away from the cities Brussels and Antwerp, near the ancient city of Tongeren, there is this little ‘castle village’ called Heks (which literally means ‘witch’ in Dutch), where Akasha is settled.  Inside of the building one can still feel the sacredness, silence and reverberations of ancient devotional prayers. The spaciousness and nature around support the inner journey. The cosy family atmosphere inside the monastery nurtures the community experience.

All organic, vegan, meals and accommodation in a shared room for the 3-day retreat are included in the price.

If you like to book a private room for the 3-day retreat, you can do that here.

Book here your accommodation for the 5-day retreat.

What students say...

"With gratitude, I look back on the sound healing training I followed with Surya. The program is clearly structured and follows a logical progression.

First, attention is given to working on ourselves — overcoming obstacles, developing virtues and skills. These are then placed in service of the greater good of others. Healing is approached in a holistic way: we work together with nature and with the whole human being, helping to restore harmony with the healing forces that are already present within each of us.

Because the lessons are given in small groups, there is plenty of space for an individual approach right from the start. This makes the threshold for working with others, or for expressing oneself creatively and openly, very low. The process unfolds in small steps, with great care for creating and maintaining a safe environment.

The greatest source of inspiration is Indian philosophy and the path of yoga as service. That’s why mantra practice is an essential part of the training. At the same time, there is also strong emphasis on shamanic work with sound, drum, voice, and rattle, as well as instruments like singing bowls. The techniques and methods taught integrate well with skills or practices students may already have from previous trainings — whether musical abilities, working with other instruments, or other holistic therapies.

Perhaps the most important pillar of the training is spirituality. Here there are no hollow words or abstract philosophical debates. Both the practice of healing and the work with sound are grounded in a deeply felt silence and serene peace. This emphasis, and the constant search for authentic presence, makes the program — though full and rich — deeply digestible and rewarding.

For anyone fascinated by sound and wishing to explore this medium in order to dive into the great questions of who we are, why we are here, and how we can help one another, this training will surely provide the tools and guidance you need."
